Roofing Questions Answered
Q: Is removing my old roof required?
A: Not always, a recover can be done depending on the amount of layers the existing roof has. Local building codes limit the number of layers allowed. This is a less expensive way to redo your roof and it can hold up just as well as a new roof. One downfall would be that any irregularities in the existing roof will more than likely show through new roofing.
Q: Can I have my roof done in the winter or during bad weather?
A: YES, we roof year round. It usually only takes 4-8 hours to actually tear off the existing roof and apply water tight felt paper. We use tarps to double insure any issues with rain or snow that may occur. A roof is usually completed in 2-4 days.
Q: Are your estimates free and how long are they valid for?
A: Estimates are ALWAYS free and they are good for 3 months. Past three months it is best to call us to make sure roofing costs have not gone up.
Q. What sort of warranties do you carry?
A: Scott’s Roofing Inc. personal labor warranty is for 15 years. We carry the longest warranty for our workmanship compared to any other roofer in Central Oregon! Our labor warranty is also transferable to a new owner. As for the roofing material itself, the warranty is only as good as its manufacturer. Some manufacturers have an up front warranty for the first through the fifth year. They will pay for labor and materials to replace any defective shingles. The roof must be installed to a manufacturer’s specifications to qualify for the warranty. Please note that most manufacturer warranties are NOT transferable to new owners.
Q: I am planning to have my home re-roofed but am very concerned about my landscaping being damaged. How will you make sure it is protected?
A: The Scott’s Roofing Inc. crew is extremely respectful, careful and aware of the surrounding landscaping while re-roofing your home. We understand your concerns and we take great pride in leaving your property and landscaping in pristine condition.
Q: I have a shake roof that does not have sheeting underneath to support a new composition roof. What will you do so it can support the new roof?
A: We will add sheeting to your entire roof so that it can support the new material.
